Use WhatsApp Web to transfer files from a PC to a contact

You can directly transfer or send files from a PC storage disk to a WhatsApp contact via WhatsApp Web. However, the maximum document size you can send is limited to 100 MB. Here’s the trick you need to follow.

How to send files from a PC to contact through WhatsApp Web?

WhatsApp Web for Desktop directly mirrors your phone WhatsApp contents with your account on the web, in real-time. All you must do is browse your PC, find a file to upload and send it to the desired contact. Read to know how it’s done!

  1. Launch a web browser.
  2. Visit whatsapp.com.
  3. Open WhatsApp on your Smartphone.
  4. Click the Settings icon.
  5. Tap WhatsApp Web/Desktop option.
  6. Scan QR code.
  7. Choose a contact.
  8. Tap the Attach icon.
  9. Select Documents icon.
  10. Send the file.

Normally, when it comes to sharing documents or sending files to others we use email as our default method of communication. This method has certain limitations though. For example, It stops short of allowing users to share content with other instant messaging services like WhatsApp or Telegram.

Can you send attachments in WhatsApp Web?

Yes. Launch your browser on a PC and open a new tab.

Go to this page and hit Enter to open WhatsApp web. Allow the app to load a QR code.

Now, open the WhatsApp app on your Smartphone and go to its Settings.

From the list of options displayed there, select WhatsApp Desktop.

Now When you see the Link a Device text on your smartphone, hold it near the QR code displayed under the web service on your PC.

All the contents will be mirrored to your Web App.

Select a contact to which you would like to transfer a file.

Tap the Attach icon inside the message typing field, then click:

  • Photos & Videos to send photos/videos from your computer – You can send up to 30 photos or videos (16 MB size limit) at once and add a caption to each photo or video.
  • Documents – Select and upload documents from your computer.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop the files directly from your computer.

Once done, hit the Send button to transfer files to the desired contact.

This way, you can use WhatsApp Web App to transfer files from a PC to a WhatsApp contact.
