Reading PDF files on Amazon Kindle devices is not so easy as it seems to be. It requires a bit of work since the display size of all Kindles are not large enough to view a PDF at its full size. However, a simple functionality – Send to Kindle Email Address feature makes the task somewhat easier.
How to use Send to Kindle feature to read PDF on a Kindle device
The comparatively small size of Kindle displays makes you zoom-scroll every nook and corner of the screen to read the document. This can be a very daunting experience. Send to Kindle Email Address feature eliminates this process and enables you to read PDF on Kindle device. Here’s how!
- If you are using an iPhone or iPad, open the file and choose the Share icon.
- Tap the email service you would like to use.
- Enter the Send to Kindle Email Address.
- To find it, go to your Kindle device or app.
- Tap More at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Settings.
- Note the Send to Kindle Email Address.
- Enter the address on your iPhone or iPad email app.
- In the subject field type CONVERT.
- Hit the Send button.
After you’re done with the above steps, Amazon will convert the PDF file into a format that is compatible with its devices and send it to your Kindle using Amazon’s Whispersync technology.
If you have the PDF files stored to your iPhone or iPad, open the file and tap it to make the Share icon visible.
Open the email service to compose and send the PDf file.
Enter the Send to Kindle Email Address. If you are not aware of it, go to your Kindle Reader its app.
Tap More visible at the bottom of the screen.
Select Settings from the list of options displayed.
Then, under Settings, locate your Send to Kindle Email Address.
Now, go to the email app, enter the Kindle email address and in the Subject line of the email, type Convert.
Then hit the Send button.
The above step will enable Amazon to convert the PDF file into a readable format on Kindle.
On a side note, this method has limitations. For example, it takes anywhere from minutes to a few hours for the PDF file to show up in your Kindle Library. Second, if your PDF file features some charts or images the conversion process may cause some distortion.
