Turn Amazon Echo Show into a home monitoring camera with this trick

When it comes to availing state-of-the-art security tech with complete service support like installation, in-home security consultations, and 24/7 home monitoring, monthly monitoring fees remain a big hindrance. Fortunately, Amazon finds an affordable option in its Echo Show line of devices! The company claims you can turn your Echo Show into a home monitoring camera with a simple trick.

How to turn Echo Show into a home monitoring camera?

Amazon’s Echo Show is now equipped with an interesting Home Monitoring camera setting. When you enable it, you can use the camera of your Echo Show as a smart home camera and securely view the camera feed remotely from either the Alexa app or other connected devices linked to your Amazon account. Read the steps to turn your Echo Show smart speaker into a home monitoring camera.

  1. On your Echo Show, go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Camera option.
  3. Slide the Home Monitoring toggle switch to enable the option.
  4. Open the Alexa app.
  5. Tap the Devices icon.
  6. Select the Cameras tab.
  7. Choose your Echo Show device.
  8. View the live feed.

With this nifty feature available, you don’t need to invest in expensive home monitoring security systems to monitor your living room surrounding or family members. Just a phone or tablet, installed with the Alexa app will do the job for you.

Before proceeding with these steps, make sure your Echo Show is updated to the latest software version. On your device’s screen swipe your finger downwards to reveal the Settings menu.

Tap it to go to Camera Settings.

Under it, slide the Home Monitoring toggle switch to the On position.

Amazon will send approve notification to your mobile phone, connected to Amazon account.

Tap the link to respond and hit the Approve button.

Next, tap Done on Echo Show screen.

Once done, open the Alexa app on your Smartphone and choose the Devices icon displayed at the bottom of the screen. When the Devices screen opens, select the Camera tab.

Next, tap your Echo Show device’s name.

View the live feed on your phone.

How to zoom in security camera?

When viewing the live camera feed, pinch the screen to zoom in or out. If you have an Echo Show 10 (3rd gen), swipe left or right to physically rotate the device remotely and see different parts of the room.
