If the content you’ve created for your Instagram profile is good enough to drive truckloads of traffic and promote user engagement, it will surely end up finding a spot on the Explore page. The newly rolled out feature – auto-generated captions for Instagram videos can make it even more interesting. So, if you don’t mind creating Instagram videos with auto-generated captions, here’s how to enable it and take the search beyond usernames and hashtags.
How to enable auto-generated captions for Instagram videos?
If I am not mistaken, Instagram has long-supported the captions feature but it required manual intervention. The newly added Show captions feature under settings makes it all automatic. Here’s how you can enable the auto-generated captions for Instagram videos and become a power user.
- Launch the Instagram app.
- Hit the plus (+) button.
- Select the Post icon.
- Choose a video to upload to Instagram.
- Hit the Next button.
- Add filters and edit your video, if needed then, tap Next.
- Scroll down to the Advanced Settings option.
- Head to the Accessibility section and toggle on Show captions.
- Go back to share your post.
Can Instagram auto caption videos?
Yes, you can generate auto-captions for Instagram videos by enabling the Show captions option under the Accessibility section. To begin, launch the Instagram app and tap the Add (+) icon visible in the upper-right corner of your app screen.
From the list of options displayed, select the Post option.
If you’ve allowed the app access to your image gallery, you’ll be directed to the albums. Select a video to upload to Instagram. Then, hit the Next button.
Now, when directed to a new screen edit the video by trimming it or adding filters, if required. Then, hit the Next button again.
Here, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and expand the Advanced Settings.
Under the Advanced Settings screen, look for the Accessibility section and underneath it, toggle On the Show Captions option.
Go back to the previous screen and share your post. You’ll see the auto-generated captions for IG Feed videos.
Similarly, if you would like to manage automatically generated captions for a video, open a video from your profile grid
Select the Manage captions option by tapping the three-dotted menu in the upper-right corner.
Slide the toggle adjacent to the Captions entry to toggle automatic captions.
Thus by adding captions you can make your Instagram videos more accessible for individuals who are physically disabled.
Hope that makes sense!
