When using AirPods Pro with an Apple TV, if you remove one earpiece it will stop the video from playing. Similarly, when both earbuds are sensed to be out of your ears, playback will switch to Apple TV’s speakers instead. To stop this from occurring turn off automatic AirPods detection.
To turn off automatic AirPods detection, do the following.
- Open Settings on Apple TV
- Go to Remotes and Devices.
- Scroll down to the Other Devices section.
- Choose Bluetooth.
- Turn off Suggest Nearby AirPods.
So, as seen above, you can turn off Auto Ear Detection on Apple TV like you can on an iPhone.
How do I get my Apple TV to stop detecting AirPods?
This shouldn’t be tough as it’s a straightforward process. To get started, tap the Settings icon on your Apple TV Home Screen.
Choose the Settings tile to go to the Settings screen.
Scroll down to the Remotes and Devices tab and tap the side arrow next to it to expand it.
Under the OTHER DEVICES section, look for the Bluetooth entry. When found, select it.
Next, toggle the switch next to Suggest Nearby AirPods to Off.
Note – When you have Automatic Ear Detection On and you’re not wearing your AirPods, audio will play through your device’s speakers. Upon disabling this setting, the features supported by it will turn off, and all audio will play to your AirPods whether or not you’re wearing them.
