How to switch to a different search engine in Echo Show

December 26, 2021 by Hemant Saxena

The default search engine in Echo Show for general searches is supposed to be Bing but for a more personalized experience, you can change it to something else like Google, DuckDuck Go, or even Ecosia. That said, finding a way to change it can be tricky especially when you are new to the device and have no idea where to start from. Worry not, we have you covered!

How to change the default search engine in Echo Show?

Technology has the power to do many things and changing the way how we use tech tools is one of them. If you like experimenting with things or don’t mind adding a personal touch to the devices you own, change the default search engine in Echo Show and experience the difference. Find how it’s done!

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Device Options.
  3. Scroll down to Web Options to select it.
  4. Choose the Browser heading.
  5. Hit the Browser Settings link.
  6. Move to Advanced settings.
  7. Tap Search engine.
  8. Select the desired search engine.

There can be several reasons for changing the search engine to locate something on the web. For instance, you want to pledge your support in making the world a more sustainable place by using Ecosia. The search engine uses the profit it makes from your searches to plant trees where they are needed most. Whatever the case may be, you can change the default search engine in Echo Show. Here’s how!

How do I get Google on Echo?

First, make sure your Echo Show device is updated to the latest firmware version. Then, swipe down from the top of the Home Screen to select Settings.

A window should pop up with the following options.

  • Bing (default)
  • Google.
  • Yahoo!
  • DuckDuckGo.
  • Ecosia.

From the list of options seen above, select the desired Search engine and exit. Hereafter, your Amazon Echo Show will use Google to retrieve answers to questions. You can undo the changes made any time and set the default search engine back to Bing by following the same list of instructions again. That’s it!

Hope it makes sense!
