Remove Kindle book samples manually from your device

July 23, 2022 by Hemant Saxena

To better evaluate a book and its contents, Amazon offers Kindle book samples. If the first few pages of the sample are honed to perfection, readers will get hooked to it and ultimately end up buying the book.

This is a standard practice followed by Amazon but there’s one problem with it – the downloaded sample is saved to your device. As such, it can take up any valuable space available. Make sure this does not happen by regularly erasing such samples.

How to remove Kindle book samples manually

When you download Kindle book samples, you can get anywhere from the first chapter to 10% of the book. This sample size can make a huge difference especially if you are running low on space. Here’s a guide to help you remove unwanted Kindle sample book manually.

  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Choose Settings > Device Options.
  3. Expand the Advanced Options menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Storage Management heading.
  5. Tap Manual removal entry.
  6. Choose Samples.
  7. Hit the Remove button.

Amazon offers 2 features where customers can check on the Kindle Edition or paperback Edition of a book title before purchasing namely,

  • Look Inside the Book – allows readers to search through and preview samples of your books.
  • Kindle instant book preview – Shows previews of books readily shareable across the web or shared as a link via email, text, and other favorite apps.

You can also use Kindle X-ray to get background info of a book.
