Amazon will no more force you to only see the Amazon and Goodread ads on the Kindle lock screen. The device owners will now have an option to customize it. The e-commerce giant has rolled out an option that will allow you to show a book cover as a screensaver on a select range of Kindle devices. Although the Amazon Kindle e-reader has been in the marketplace for over a decade, the request of its owners to have an option to set a book cover as their lock screen wallpaper has materialized just recently. Continue reading to find how to make Amazon Kindle show book cover as screensaver.

  1. Launch your Kindle.
  2. Go to the Menu.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Scroll down to Device Options.
  5. Enable Show Cover option.

It’s important to mention here, not all Kindle models support this capability. It is limited to a few versions only like,

  • Kindle (8th, 10th Gen)
  • Kindle Paperwhite (7th, 10th Gen)
  • Kindle Oasis (8th, 9th, 10th Gen)
  • Kindle Voyage (7th Gen).

Moreover, for this feature to work, ads need to be turned off and so, you must make a one-time payment of $20.

How to display the cover of the book you're reading on the lock screen of your Kindle device?

Turn on your device. Click the Menu icon, visible as 3 vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the Kindle screen.

Scroll down to the Settings option. Your Amazon Kindle e-reader is designed to make most configuration settings automatically. However, you can use the menu to further manage and customize your device.

Choose the Device Options from the list of options displayed. This setting lets you personalize your Kindle experience.

When directed to a new screen, toggle the switch for Show Cover from ‘Off’ to ‘On’ position. When enabled, Show Cover will automatically use the current cover of the book you are reading on your Amazon Kindle. It will also work for other materials like autobiographies, comics, magazines, comics, etc.
