10 easy steps to transfer photos from Facebook to Google

Interoperability between apps enables easy access and exchange of data, regardless of its origin. This helps in developing an information infrastructure with interconnected systems. One such capability lets Internet users easily transfer or migrate their photos and videos from Facebook to Google. So, let’s see how to transfer photos or videos from Facebook to Google Photos.

How to transfer photos from Facebook to Google Photos?

The sole objective behind supporting this capability is to give users more control over their data, including photos and videos. Here’s how you can complete the transfer of photos from Facebook to Google Photos.

  1. Login Facebook app or go to Facebook.com.
  2. Click the Account drop-down menu.
  3. Choose Settings & Privacy > Settings.
  4. Scroll down to Your Facebook Information heading.
  5. Hit the View button, adjacent to the Transfer a copy of your information option.
  6. Enter the password.
  7. Check the Photos option.
  8. Select a destination – Google Photos in this case.
  9. Grant Facebook, permission to proceed with the transfer.
  10. Allow the transfer is complete.

Repeat the same procedure for transferring videos. We recommend you use the Desktop app rather than the mobile app since it makes the whole exercise, a lot more convenient!

How to transfer your photos to Google Photos?

On your Desktop, PC or Mac go to Facebook.com.

Click the Account drop-down menu to select ‘Settings and privacy’ > Settings.

When directed to a new page, scroll down to the ‘Your Facebook information’ heading.

On the right, under Your Facebook Information screen, click the View link, adjacent to Transfer a copy of your information heading. It allows you to copy photos, videos, posts, or other information to another service.

Enter the password, when prompted.

Now, check the Photos option under Choose what to transfer section.

Move down to the ‘Choose destination’ drop-down menu and select Google Photos from the options listed therein.

Now, sign in with your Google account to open Google Photos.

Grant Facebook, the permission to add media to Google Photos by clicking the ‘Allow’ button.

Wait for a few minutes to allow the process to be completed.

In the end, once the transfer is completed, you’ll get a confirmation email from Facebook.
