How to stop any spam text message from appearing on your iPhone

The Spam text message examples like the ones offering free-gift cards or promising low credit card interest rates are nothing more than clever bait. Most users, unaware of this trap take no action to stop them. While there are many third-party apps that allow you to fully stop spam texts or send them to a separate folder to check later, we don’t use them due to privacy concerns. Luckily, the iPhone has a built-in feature to control this behavior. Here’s how to stop spam text messages on iPhone.

How to stop spam text message on an iPhone permanently

If you are receiving inappropriate text messages, you can either block them or filter them from unknown senders without downloading third-party applications or connecting the device to a computer. Read the instructions given below to know how to stop spam texts messages on iPhone!

  1. To block spam text messages, open the Messages app.
  2. Select a message from the sender you would like to block.
  3. Tap the profile icon at the top.
  4. Select the Info icon.
  5. Tap the Profile info icon.
  6. Choose Block this caller option, marked in red.
  7. To filter messages from unknown senders, go to Settings.
  8. Scroll down to Messages.
  9. Navigate to the Message Filtering section.
  10. Tap Unknown & Spam side-arrow.
  11. Toggle the switch for filter Unknown Senders to On
  12. Tap SMS Filter under SMS Filtering.

How to block text messages on iPhone 11?

The Phone Messages app allows you to block unwanted messages, filter messages from unknown senders, or report spam or junk messages.

In a Messages conversation, tap the name or number at the top of the conversation, then tap the Profile icon.

When the options are displayed, select the Info icon.

Tap the Profile info icon again to display a new menu of options.

Choose Block this caller.

How to stop spam texts from different numbers?

Similarly, to filter messages from unknown senders, go to the iPhone Settings.

Choose Messages from the list and scroll down to Message Filtering section.

Tap the Unknown & Spam entry under the section.

When directed to a new screen, enable the toggle for Filter Unknown Senders option.

SMS Filtering

Finally, tap the SMS Filter option under SMS FILTERING to automatically sort SMS messages into categorized lists. You will not receive notifications for messages categorized as Spam.

Apple filter unknown senders not working?

Please note – Filer unknown messages option is available only for iMessages and not for SMS.
