Earlier, the method of sharing audio meant plugging one earpiece in your ear and another piece in someone else's ear. Although the method worked, it meant losing half the experience in the process. That’s not the case anymore as the new iOS feature – AirPods audio sharing lets you share music across two sets of AirPods or PowerBeats headphones. Read to know how to share audio with AirPods.
How to share audio with AirPods Pro headphones?
‘Audio Sharing’, lets you temporarily pair the second set of AirPods to your iPhone or iPad. All you’ll need is a compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and iOS 13.1 or iPadOS 13.1 or later running on them. See the steps for how to share audio with AirPods!
- In Control Center tap the AirPlay audio button.
- Choose the Share Audio option.
- Bring another iPhone close to yours.
- Tap Share Audio, when prompted.
- Request your friend to tap the Join button.
- Adjust the volume, as desired.
Can you share AirPods between 2 devices?
Yes, provided the two sets of headphones are paired to the same device. Here's how to use AirPod Pro share audio feature.
Bring your AirPods in proximity to your iOS device. If the headphones are enclosed in a case, open the lid and connect your AirPods to your iOS device.
How to share audio on AirPods?
Swipe down from the top of your iPhone Home Screen and tap the AirPlay Audio button, visible there.
When the AirPlay icon screen appears, tap ‘Share Audio’.
Ask your friend to bring his iPhone close to yours. When prompted, tap Share Audio as shown in the image above. Request your friend to tap the Join button.
When done, adjust the volume of the earphones, as desired.
Disable AirPod Sharing iOS 13
If you would like to stop sharing, tap the ‘AirPlay’ icon in Control Center or the Lock screen, or in the app you're listening to.
Check the box marked against the headphones you would like to stop sharing audio with. When you stop sharing audio, you also disconnect the second set of headphones.
How many AirPods can share audio?
AirPod Pro share audio feature works with only the following devices:
- AirPods 1.
- AirPods 2.
- PowerBeats Pro.
Airpods share audio not working?
Currently, Audio Sharing on Airpods Pro is limited to the devices running iOS 13 or later. So, if you are running an earlier version of iOS and not updated the feature will not work for you.
