Get your iPhone eSIM activated using this guide

The biggest advantage of running an iPhone eSIM together with a standard SIM is that it requires no physical swapping. Moreover, you can use two different plans on the same phone — say, one for voice and messages and the other, for data.

How to configure an iPhone 11 eSIM for a cellular plan?

An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows its users to activate a cellular plan from the carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. Newer iPhone models like iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, already support this technology. So. let’s see how to activate eSIM on iPhone.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Cellular option.
  3. Choose the Add Cellular Plan link.
  4. Scan the eSIM QR code.
  5. Scan QR code.
  6. Select the Default line.

You can find out which wireless carriers in your country or region offer cellular plans on an eSIM by visiting the Apple Support page.

How to activate eSIM in iPhone

Open up ‘Settings’ from your iPhone’s Home screen.

Select the ‘Cellular’ option.

Then, under ‘Cellular’ settings, click on the ‘Add Cellular Plan’ link highlighted in blue.

Use your iPhone camera to scan the QR code by positioning the QR code from your carrier in the frame. The QR code will be sent via email. This is not required for iPhone 12 and newer models.

Upon detecting the QR code, you’ll see an ‘Add Cellular Plan’ screen.

Tap Enter the details manually link.

hit the Add Cellular Plan button.

Press the button and label your phone numbers.

  • Primary – for your original phone number.
  • Secondary label – for the new number you just added a few moments ago.

When done, tap the ‘Continue’ button visible at the bottom of the screen.

This number will be ready for use.

How many eSIM can be used in iPhone

You can add a maximum of 5 eSIMS to your iPhone but only one eSIM will remain active at a time! Also, find out how to transfer your eSIM.

How to remove eSIM?

To remove eSIM, open Settings on your iPhone.

Tap either Cellular or Mobile Data entry. Then, choose the plan you want to erase.

Hit the Remove Cellular Plan option.

Please note that if you choose to erase all content and settings from your iPhone, you can choose to erase your eSIM as well or keep it.

Add cellular plan iPhone not showing?

Firstly, you’ll need to make sure that your iPhone plan is eligible for Dual SIM service. Check with your Carrier. Second, the carrier you choose should support coverage in your area. lastly, it should not have any billing-related blockage.
