Use this hack to remove unwanted highlights in Kindle

January 17, 2022 by Hemant Saxena

It’s easy to highlight text or passages in Kindle. Just long-press the finger at a location on the screen and drag the handles to cover key pieces of text. Similarly, to undo highlights in Kindle just press-and-hold your finger over the highlighted part and choose the Undo option. In some cases, you may find the Undo option missing. Worry not!! You can use this workaround to get it back and remove unwanted Kindle highlights!

How to remove unwanted highlights in Kindle?

Using highlights in Kindle is an effective strategy for reading. However, it may not work for all especially when you notice some seemingly random sentences being underlined and no Undo option available to remove them. Here’s how you can get rid of this annoyance!

  1. Open a book.
  2. Tap the top of the screen to access the toolbar.
  3. Select the font (Aa) icon.
  4. Choose the More option.
  5. Scroll down to Popular Highlights entry.
  6. Turn off the feature.

Kindle’s Popular Highlights is a feature that represents the most highlighted passages readers have added to their Kindle books.  You can recognize it instantly when you see highlighted texts with a dashed line under them, alongside the digits, indicating the numbers of the highlighters.

How do you undo highlighting on Kindle?

Wake your Kindle device by entering the passcode. Open a book.

Tap in the upper region of your Kindle screen to access the Toolbar.

Do Kindle highlights sync?

Yes, if you have the Whispersync for Kindle Books enabled, you can easily pick up where you left off in Kindle books and access notes, highlights regardless of which device you’re using.
