By simply tweaking a few settings in your account, you can make Twitter show your tweets only to your followers and no one else. The method works on both, mobile and desktop platforms. Moreover, it doesn’t require you to create a private circle or switch to a professional account.
Make Twitter show your tweets only to your followers
When you sign up with Twitter for the first time, your Tweets are set to ‘Public’ by default. As such, anyone who’s not even following you can see, read and interact with your Tweets. However, if you want it to be a private affair of sorts, you can choose to protect your tweets. Here’s how you can make Twitter show tweets only to your followers.
Note: Accounts that were already following you before you chose to protect tweets will still be able to view and interact with your tweets unless you block them.
How to protect tweet
Time needed: 2 minutes.
Before you dive into the specifics, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. If yes, launch the app and tap the profile picture visible in the upper-left corner of the app screen.
- Open Settings
Launch the app and tap the profile picture visible in the upper-left corner of the app screen. Then, Choose the Settings and privacy option from the list.
- Choose Settings and privacy
When directed to a new screen, scroll down to the Privacy and safety section.
- Navigate to Audience and tagging
Here, expand the Audience and tagging setting by tapping its entry.
- Enable Protect your tweets toggle
Just next to the Protect your Tweets option, you should see a toggle. It is set to an off position. To enable it, simply slide the toggle to the opposite end.
This will protect your tweets and show them only to the people who are following you on Twitter. You’ll receive a request when new people want to follow you, which you can approve or deny.
Hope that makes sense!
