Amazon Prime Video has added a new capability that lets its subscribers watch content and chat in real-time. Yes, you no more need to download extensions to host movie nights with your friends. Simply enable Amazon Prime Video Watch Party option and enjoy the experience. Read on to know how to get started with the Amazon Prime Video Watch Party facility.
Host an Amazon Prime Video Watch Party with your friends
Amazon Prime Video Watch Party creates a virtual movie theater experience. You can watch your favorite movies or shows with your friends and family members, remotely. A good feature of this new addition is that you do not have to pay anything extra and viewers can select from thousands of movies and TV episodes included in Prime.
- Browse to the desired title on your PC or Mac.
- Select Watch Party from the detail page.
- Enter the desired username under What’s Your Name?
- Press the ‘Create Watch Party’ button to generate a Watch Party link.
- Invite friends using the Share icon or select Copy Link.
You can invite up to 100 participants while hosting the Amazon Prime Video Watch Party.
If you are a Amazon Prime subscriber, launch Amazon Prime video.
Browse to a suitable title from the ‘Detail‘ page (Titles showing ‘Prime Logo‘ or ‘Watch Now with Amazon Prime‘ option under video details). You should see a ‘Watch Party‘ button there.
Click the ‘Watch Party‘ button.
Enter a desired username under ‘What’s Your Name’?
Next, hit the ‘Create Watch Party’ button to generate a Watch Party link.
Now, start inviting friends using the Share icon or select Copy Link to share it.
Anyone, receiving a valid invite link can join Watch Party. However, the person must have access to eligible Prime Video titles included with their Prime Membership.
The recipient should click on the link using the supported web browser.
Upon clicking the link, the recipient will be redirected to the title where he can enter his username under ‘What’s Your Name?’
Then, click ‘Join Watch Party’ to join the Watch Party.
It is important to note here that browsers like Safari and Internet Explorer (IE) do not support Watch Party experience on their platforms.
Even more important, currently, Amazon Prime members based in the United States alone are eligible to join a Watch Party. The facility is likely to be extended to different regions, soon.
Non-Prime members trying to access eligible titles included with Prime will be stopped from joining the Watch Party. They will be prompted to subscribe to Amazon Prime – with a free 30-day trial available (if eligible).
Lastly, Amazon Prime Video Watch Party is not available for titles you buy or rent.
