Videos uploaded to YouTube require large viewership numbers to be monetized through ads. Fortunately, Google has rolled out a new option – YouTube SuperThanks to help content creators earn substantially. It provides viewers a direct way to show support for their favorite videos and encourages creators to make more engaging videos along similar lines.
Enable YouTube SuperThanks for your channel
YouTube SuperThanks gives creators access to a new source of revenue. It is available for eligible creators in the YouTube partner program and can be enabled in just a few easy clicks.
- Go to YouTube Studio Desktop.
- Choose Monetization from the side panel.
- Switch to the Supers tab.
- Enable the Super thanks toggle.
- Look for the Thanks button.
- Viewers can make contributions by clicking the Thanks button under a video.
Please note that SuperThanks YouTube button will not appear on Live Streams or Premieres.
What is a Super Thanks in YouTube?
It’s a great way for YouTubers to boost their earning potential directly from their community and celebrate those who support them. For example, through YouTube Superthanks, viewers of a channel can show support for a piece of content by buying a one-time animation on videos and sending a personalized, colorful comment. In return, they can earn recognition from the creator as top fans through special mentions and a large shout-out in the comments section.
How do I enable SuperThanks on YouTube?
Interacting with comments is one of the best ways to acknowledge your community members and appreciate them for their right actions. Your recognition for your viewers can go a long way in strengthening your connection with them furthermore.
To enable SuperThanks on YouTube, go to YouTube Studio Desktop.

Then, scroll down to the Monetization heading under the side panel on the left. On the right side, under the Channel Monetization screen, switch to the Supers tab.

A Super Thanks toggle should be visible to you. By default it is disabled. To enable it, move the slider to the opposite end.

As soon as you enable it, a Thanks button, just adjacent to the YouTube Dislike button or Share button should appear under all of your previous and future videos.

Viewers in specific locations can buy a Super thanks by clicking the thanks button under a video. They’ll see multiple price points for a purchase. Each of them will have its own one-time special animation. When purchased and posted, the comments made via Super thanks will get a distinct, colorful makeover in the creator’s video comments section.
How to review and manage SuperThanks comments?
You can moderate Super Thanks comments by navigating to the Comments section of your YouTube Studio account
Then, filter to see only Super thanks comments. Here you can review, reply or heart any SuperThanks comments on your videos.
How much does YouTube take from Super Thanks?
Creators are eligible to receive 70% of SuperThanks revenue after deductions (Local Sales tax, Applicable Store Fees, etc). You’ll receive these earnings through the Adsense account. Transactions costs including Credit Card fees are currently covered by YouTube.
