How to disable Facebook’s In-App sound effects on iPhone

  1. Launch the Facebook App.
  2. Open the Facebook app.
  3. Tap Menu.
  4. Choose Settings and Privacy to go to Settings.
  5. Select Media and Contacts
  6. Tap Sounds.
  7. Toggle off the In-App Sound option.
  8. For the Messenger app, open Messenger.
  9. Tap your Display Picture.
  10. Go to the Preferences section.
  11. Select Notifications & Sounds.
  12. Toggle off the Sounds and Vibrations switch.

Similarly, For the Messenger app on iOS, tap your Display Picture.

Go to the Preferences section.

Now, to turn off Messenger notifications sounds on iPhone, toggle off the Sounds and Vibrations switch next to While Using the App option.

In addition to the above, if you would like to disable the audio in a video that starts playing automatically when you browse your news feed, flip the slider from the ‘On’ position to ‘off’. This setting can be immensely useful in environments where you do not want Facebook videos blaring in public while you are busy browsing through your news feed.
