The rumors of a nationwide ban on TikTok in the US have prompted Instagram to come up with its own full-fledged video sharing feature called Reels. The offering from Facebook-owned company claims to allow users to create quick 15-second videos within Instagram. It is available for both, iOS and Android platforms. If you’ve been wondering how to create, watch, and share Instagram Reels on iOS, here’s a tutorial to help you get started.
Get started to create, watch, and share Instagram Reels
Instagram Reels offers an opportunity to dispossessed TikTok users to create compact, short video content and continue expressing themselves while entertaining others.
- Launch the Instagram app.
- Click the Camera icon.
- Select Reels.
- Create your video content.
- Configure options for adjusting speed, creating effects adding a timer, etc.
Like TikTok, Reels allows its users to add audio from the Instagram Music library. Once the recording is complete, users can choose the audience they wish to share their Reel with. Unlike Instagram Stories, Reels can be shared and viewed by everyone on the platform.
Verify if you are using the updated version of the Instagram app. If not, update to the latest version of Instagram.
Next, open Instagram app on your iOS device.
Now, click on the camera icon, visible in the upper left corner of the screen.
Slide to the right side of the screen. You should see the Reel icon in the record interface.
Click the icon to start recording a 15-seconds video.
When done, you’ll see on screen, in-video edit options like edit, music, smileys and more.
If you are adding music from the library you can select the desired length.
Once the Reel is created, you can simply share it within Insta Stories, or in Direct Messages where it will be visible for 24 hours.
Alternatively, you can share it in the ‘Explore’ section where your followers can see the shared reel.
