Control Apple TV with Apple Watch using the Remote app

Although it isn’t a huge deal, the Remote app offers a convenient way to control Apple TV with Apple Watch right from your wrist. You don’t need to be within the normal Bluetooth range of your TV to see this magic work.

How to control Apple TV with Apple Watch using Remote App

Apple TV brings the desired content to your living room, without hassles! You can easily connect your iOS devices like iPhone/iPad with Apple TV and enjoy watching your favorite content using AirPlay technology. Also, you can control Apple TV with Apple Watch. Follow these steps to find out how it is done.

  1. Open the Remote app
  2. Add a Device.
  3. Go to Settings (Apple TV), and access Remotes and Devices > Remote App and Devices.
  4. Choose Apple Watch.
  5. Enter the passcode displayed on your Apple Watch.
  6. Launch the Remote app on your Apple Watch.
  7. Choose your Apple TV from Selected Item.
  8. Access Menu to start controlling it.

How to control Apple TV without a remote

Firstly, you’ll need to pair your Apple Watch with your Apple TV. For this, connect your iPhone to the Wi-Fi network that your Apple TV is connected to.

Thereafter, launch the Remote app on your Apple Watch.

Choose your Apple TV. If you don’t see it listed, tap Add Device.

On the Apple TV, go to Settings, and choose Remotes and Devices from the options listed.

Select Remote App and Devices > Apple Watch.

Enter the passcode displayed on your Apple Watch.

When the pairing icon becomes visible next to the Watch, it’s ready to control your TV.

Now, make sure that your Apple TV is awake.

Then, open the Remote app on your Apple Watch.

Select your Apple TV, then perform any of the following actions,

  • Swipe up
  • Swipe down
  • Swipe left
  • Swipe right

Navigate through the Apple TV menu options.

Tap to choose the selected item. Hit the Play/Pause button to pause or resume playback.

Finally, tap the Menu button to go back, or touch and hold it to return to the main menu.

Unpair and remove Apple TV

When your Apple TV is turned On, go to Settings.

Navigate to Remotes and Devices and choose Remote App and Devices.

Then, launch the Apple Watch under Remote App, then tap Unpair Device.

Open the Remote app on your Apple Watch.

If you see the lost connection message appears, tap Remove.
