How to block Instagram tags in your account

If you have a strong Instagram following, it’s likely you are a popular guy. However, more exposure means more message requests from unknown accounts and unnecessary tagging by some random users. You can control this behavior by tweaking a few settings. Here’s how to Instagram tags.

How to block Instagram tags in iOS app?

Instagram tagging works just like the Facebook tagging feature. It identifies you in a post, photo, or status update that someone else chooses to share publicly by mentioning your name. If you don’t like this setting enabled, see what you can do to block Instagram tags.

  1. Launch your Instagram app.
  2. Tap the Profile icon.
  3. Select Menu.
  4. Choose the Settings option.
  5. Scroll down to Privacy.
  6. Select Tags.
  7. Configure Allow Tags From and Manually Approve Tags option.

You can stop others from tagging you in a post, video, or comment by configuring manually approve tags on Instagram feature.

What is manually approve tags on Instagram?

It’s a useful setting in Instagram which lets you choose who can tag you in their photos and videos. So, when some random account tries to tag you, they will see if you don’t allow tags from everyone.

How to stop someone from tagging you in posts on Instagram?

Launch your Instagram app and head to your profile (bottom right corner of the app).

Tap the icon and then, select Menu (visible as 3 horizontal bars in the upper-right corner).

Choose Settings.

When directed to a new screen, scroll down to the Privacy section.

Expand the Privacy menu to go to the Tags section.

Under Tags section, configure options related to Allow tags From and Manually Approve Tags settings.

That’s how you can stop someone from tagging you on Instagram, unnecessarily, and without your approval!
