March 8, 2022 by Hemant Saxena

Even after multiple attempts, if you notice your MacBook cannot find a scanner you are trying to connect to, use this troubleshooting guide. It will help you restore normalcy and continue with your work, uninterrupted!

How to quickly fix MacBook cannot find a scanner issue?

A multifunction printer is a smart choice for users who prefer to use a single machine for all their work like printing, copying, scanning or sending a fax. Maximum times, the machine will connect instantly to your MacBook. However, when MacBook cannot find a scanner or fails to recognize it, take the following course of action.

  1. Open the Mac_ICDM Folder.
  2. Run the ICDM Installer.
  3. Choose ‘Install’ to begin the installation process.
  4. Type your password to allow the installation.
  5. Hit Close, when done.

It’s a common issue with the Samsung M2885FW Laser Multifunction Printer where its Printer works just fine but MacBook cannot recognize the Samsung M2885FW scanner. This can be fixed easily by installing the scan driver for Mac OS X with Samsung printers.

Turn On your MacBook and navigate to /Applications/Samsung Scanner?  In the DMG download, you should see a MAC_ICDM folder with an ICDM.pkg. Under its Data directory, there is a Samsung Scanner App waiting to be installed.

Select it and hit the Continue button to proceed further.

Once the process has been completed and you see ‘the installation was successful’ message, hit the Close button at the bottom of the screen to finish the setup.

Hereafter, you should be able to scan a document or file without any hassles.

How do you scan with a Macbook?

You can download the Doc Scanner app from the App Store. It can crop, edit, rotate and annotate your scanned docs. It even allows you to re-order pages within a document and choose from a variety of filters to apply for scanned documents. Lastly, you can use OCR to convert documents to text or add document images from your photo gallery and Finder.

Hope that makes sense!
