What to do when you get an AirTag found moving with you alert

AirTags are immensely useful in keeping a track of your items, but the same tool becomes a source of concern when they end up being used for stalking someone. An unwanted AirTag pop-up notification ‘AirTag Found Moving with You’ flashing on your iPhone screen is a case in point.

How to get rid of an AirTag found moving with you alert message?

Recently, multiple instances were reported where some users found unknown AirTags sending an alert on their Apple devices for an extended period of time. The alert message read as ‘AirTag Found Moving with You. The location of this AirTag can be seen by the owner’. What this possibly means is either you’re near a lost item with an AirTag attached to it or someone has deliberately put an AirTag in your belongings. Read to find what you should do upon seeing this message.

  1. Hit the continue button on your device’s screen.
  2. Tap the Play Sound button to locate it.
  3. If AirTag belongs to a member of your Family Sharing group, choose Pause Safety Alerts.
  4. If the AirTag does not belong to you, hit the Learn About This AirTag button.
  5. Try locating its serial number
  6. To stop sharing your location, dsable AirTag by removing its battery.

When you see the “AirTag Found Moving With You” alert on your Apple device, it becomes necessary to address the alert right away as the owner of it might be attempting to track the location of the AirTag on his Apple device, and by proxy, your whereabouts.

How do I get rid of AirTag found moving with me?

When you first see the message pop up, tap on the message and select the Continue option.

If you would like to discover it, hit the Play Sound tab just above the Pause Safety Alerts tab.

If the AirTag discovered belongs to a member of your Family Sharing group, you can turn off Safety Alerts for one day or indefinitely.

If the AirTag does not belong to you or is unknown choose the Learn About This AirTag option. The disc-shaped accessory includes NFC (Near Field Communications) technology, useful for pairing the device first time during the setup. It also enables any device with an NFC reader to find information related to the AirTag’s serial number by visiting a link. The page link directs to also displays the phone number of the owner if they marked it lost. This makes it easier to return the accessory.

If the AirTag is unknown to you and you would like to stop sharing your location, disable the AirTag by removing its battery.
