Fix AirPods Pro Mic not working

You’ve performed all the basic troubleshooting steps like cleaning the microphone, disconnecting & reconnecting the earphones to your Apple device but still find AirPods Pro Mic not working? May be you should consider changing the AirPods Pro settings first.

How to fix AirPods Pro mic not working issue?

Each piece of AirPods Pro pair is equipped with a microphone, so you can make phone calls and use Siri. By default, the setting for Microphone is set to Automatic, so that either of your AirPods can act as the microphone. However, if you find one of your AirPods Pro mic not working, check for any changes made to the default setting. Also, try testing it in different orientations and see if it behaves differently.

  1. Connect your AirPods pro to your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Tap the info icon next to your AirPods Pro name.
  4. Scroll down to Microphone heading.
  5. Verify if the Always Right or Always Left orientation is marked as checked.
  6. If the microphone is working in either orientation as desired, change it to Automatic.
  7. Exit the settings.

How do I get my AirPods mic to work?

To make AirPods Pro mic work in both, left and right earpieces, you’ll need to make sure that the active microphone setting for the AirPods Pro is configured to use both mics. For this, do the following.

Connect your AirPods pro to your iPhone or iPad.

Open Settings, go to the Bluetooth settings and tap the Info icon next to your AirPods Pro name.

When directed to a new screen, scroll down to the Microphone heading.

Expand the Microphone heading by tapping its entry.

Then, under the Microphone screen that appears, tap the Always Left AirPod or Always Right AirPod to test microphone in the desired orientation. Even if you're using one AirPod, that AirPod (left or right) should function as the microphone. To change it to the default orientation and make the microphone work on both the earpieces, switch back to the Automatic orientation.
