Now, start right ear capture. Position the right side of your head in the camera frame with an unobstructed view of your ear. Then move your head slightly to the right and then to the left to capture the angles of your ear.
You’ll hear a confirmation sound if all goes well. If not, move your iPhone back or front and repeat the procedure.
When done, you’ll see a confirmation message.
Continue the same with your left ear.
Repeat the procedure for the left ear until you have completed your personalized Spatial Audio setup.
How does Personalized Spatial Audio work
This Audio spatialization relies on the use of the TrueDepth camera to scan your ears and create a personal profile for Spatial Audio. This helps in delivering a listening experience tuned just for you.
Conceptually, it’s similar to Sony’s personalized 360 Reality Audio but the implementation of it is far more seamless and likely better results.
The 360 Reality Audio ecosystem requires you to download the Sony│Headphones Connect app, connect it to the Sony headphones and capture images of your ears to create a profile. Moreover, you need to upload the images to Sony’s servers for analysis.
Personalized Spatial Audio iOS 16 technique lessens this additional burden of downloading an app and uploading images to its servers separately. All these features are built right into iOS settings!
Hope that makes sense!
