Super Alexa mode is an Easter egg, an undocumented feature based on the Konami code also known as the Contra code. It dates back to 1986 when the code first featured in Konami’s scrolling shooter game Gradius for the NES that later came to be known as Contra in the following year. The code was created by the late Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a Japanese video game developer who added it during testing to make the gameplay easier but forgot to remove it, later.

Entering the code correctly at the game’s title screen allowed players to unlock a whole bunch of power-ups. Gamers could bag additional lives (from 3 to 30)! As the game had a steep learning curve, practicing the code was seen more as mandatory and less of a cheat.
