How to disable read receipts for a Direct Message in Twitter

February 28, 2022 by Hemant Saxena

A direct message in Twitter is a private mode of communication between 2 users. So, when you send a direct message to someone and it is delivered, only you and the recipient can see its content. Upon reading the message, Twitter displays a blue tick with a seen badge to notify the sender that the recipient has read that message. If this is a privacy concern for you and you would like to disable it, follow the list of instructions given below!

Direct message in Twitter takes the communication style to the next level by enabling instant connection. It gives a user the opportunity to reach out to another individual in person. What does a gray checkmark mean on Twitter?

A gray checkmark appears below your message to show it’s been successfully delivered. This checkmark turns blue once the recipient reads it.
