A guide to AirTag sounds
AirTags are designed to keep tabs on personal belongings such as backpacks, luggage, wallets, and more. It pings nearby Apple devices when it slips into a lost mode so users can locate them. But it does not emit only one type of sound. There are 5 different types of AirTag sounds. These include,
- Welcome sound
- Setup Complete sound
- Find My AirTag sound
- Moving with your AirTag sound
- Locate AirTag moving with you
The last type of sound was particularly added to address concerns about people attaching AirTags to cars or dropping them in bags or pockets to follow others.

When your AirTag setup is complete and ready to use, you’ll hear this chime.
3] Find My AirTag sound
This sound plays repeatedly when you are trying to locate your personal belongings with AirTag attached to it under the Find My App. There are countless stories of AirTag playing an instrumental in reuniting people with the things they value.
4] Moving with your AirTag sound
This sound is emitted autonomously when an unknown AirTag is moving with you.
5] Locate AirTag moving with you
This sound plays when you are trying to locate an unknown AirTag moving with you. Apple will also adjust the tone sequence to use more of the loudest tones to make an unknown AirTag more easily findable.
