How to delete Expired DigiCert Certificate from your MacBook

When the webpage you’re trying to visit doesn’t show up and you see the Delete Expired DigiCert Certificate error on your MacBook, follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in this guide. The problem is not on the server side since DigiCert, the issuing authority of the certificate issues the most up-to-date intermediates in order to establish trust with browsers. So, the error indicates that a certificate isn’t set up right on your computer.

How to fix the Delete Expired DigiCert Certificate error on a Mac Computer?

You can fix the Delete Expired DigiCert Certificate error by deleting expired certificates. This may also be necessary since expired validation of the security certificate can lead to a rejection of secure logon to the site that uses that certificate. To fix the error, try these tips.

  1. Open Spotlight Search.
  2. Enter Keychain Access and hit the Return key.
  3. Choose the View tab.
  4. Select the Show Expired Certificates option.
  5. Click inside Search and type DigiCert High.
  6. Find DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA marked as Expired.
  7. Click the certificate.
  8. Press Delete on your keyboard.

How do I fix expired certificate errors?

On your Mac computer, at the top right, click Spotlight search (visible as a magnifying glass icon).

Inside the empty field of the Spotlight search, type Keychain Access and hit the Return key.

From the results displayed, select the Keychain Access entry.

Under the Menu on the Desktop screen, hit the View button and choose the Show Expired Certificates option.

Next, click Search, type ‘DigiCert High’ inside the Search field, and hit the Return key.

Look for the ‘DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA’ heading that’s marked as Expired.

Select the certificate and hit Delete on your keyboard.

Hereafter, you should no longer see the Delete Expired DigiCert Certificate message on your Mac computer.

Is it OK to delete expired certificates on Mac?

Yes, it’s perfectly alright to delete expired certificates or remove them from your MacBook since using them may lead to a rejection of secure logon to the site that uses that certificate.
