How to check Apple Pencil battery on any iPad

Apple Pencil works as a simple stylus if you don’t want to touch your screen. However, the accessory itself lacks support for a battery status indicator, which displays the battery charge level. Still, if you want, you can check Apple Pencil battery level. The only requirement is you should be running iOS 14 or later.

Check Apple Pencil battery on an iPad

With your Apple Pencil, you can take notes, doodle, or draw some serious artwork, right from your iPad. Similarly, if you would like to quickly check Apple pencil battery levels, you can add a widget to the iPad Home Screen. Here’s how!

  1. Swipe right across the screen to make Today View and its various widgets visible.
  2. Tap Add button.
  3. Select battery indicator.
  4. Pick a widget size (small, medium, or large).
  5. Check the current charge level of your Apple Pencil.
  6. Drag the widget to the desired position.

These neat iOS 14 tricks not only let you check the battery level of your Apple iPad, Apple Pencil but also Apple Watch, AirPods, or any other connected Bluetooth device or accessory.

How to check Apple Pencil battery?

Open the Today View by simply swiping right over the Home screen, Lock screen, or while you’re looking at your notifications.

Gently press and hold in the vacant space of the Home screen to start jiggling it.

Tap the plus-shaped icon, visible in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Scroll down the widgets gallery to locate the Batteries option.

When seen, tap the option and pick a widget size. By default. There are 3 options available. These include,

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large

The smaller and the medium widget sizes, as obvious, use less space in Today View but it’s the larger Battery widget that displays the names of the device more prominently.

Select the desirable option. Once done, tap Add Widget.

Instantly, you should see how much charge your Apple Pencil has left while you’re using it.

How long to charge apple pencil?

Normally, it takes about 15 minutes to fully charge the Apple Pencil using the Lightning port. So, You can get about 30 minutes of charge in roughly 15 seconds.
