You can regulate the audience for things you choose to share on your profile by creating a Restricted List on Facebook. The process is really simple and can be completed in just a few steps!
Add unknown people to the restricted list on Facebook
It’s hard to remain vigilant all the time but any content you post or share on social media can have some implications. You can minimize the risks by adding unknown people from your Friends list to the restricted list on Facebook. Today’s post talks just about that.
- Open Facebook.
- Go to your News Feed page.
- Select a contact from the News Feed.
- Tap Menu (on mobile) > Friends and Friends button on Desktop/Mac.
- Choose the Edit Friend Lists option.
- Tap the Restricted option (on mobile) or check the Restricted box (on Desktop)
- Tap done.
Your News Feed is completely personal to you. As such, it’s your prerogative to appoint or select friends who should have access to your News Feed.
What is Restricted List On Facebook
As the name suggests, it is a list of people you’ve added as a friend but may not want to share your content/posts/ideas with (e.g. your boss, guardian, etc.).
So, putting someone on the Restricted list doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve unfriended the person. You still remain friends with that person albeit, you don’t want to share your posts with them.
How do I restrict someone on Facebook without blocking them?
Open the Facebook app on your iOS or if you prefer to use a computer, launch a web browser and go to the official Facebook website. Sign in if you’re not already.
Select a person’s name you would like to add to your Restricted list.
Go to his Profile page.

Tap the menu icon, visible as 3 horizontal dots, and choose the Friends option (on mobile). For the Desktop version, click the Friends button.

Then, select the Edit Friend Lists option.

Now, simply tap the Restricted option on mobile or check the Restricted box (Desktop) to add the person to the list.
Hit the Done button at the end.
How to remove someone from Restricted List on Facebook?
Follow the instructions as given above but, in the end, simply uncheck the Restricted box or tap the Restricted option again to undo the changes made earlier.
Hope that makes sense!
